An
accomplished strategic planner, public speaker and marketing educator, her expertise
spans strategic marketing, planning and training, mature concept evolution, and
new restaurant launches. Concurrently, she leads workshops and training seminars
for audiences including owners, marketers, executives and unit-level managers.
In 1999 Karen founded KZ Marketing ("KZMI"),
a marketing consultancy that serviced the restaurant industry. Immediately preceding
KZMI's 1999 launch, Zaniker was Vice President of Tom Feltenstein's Neighborhood
Marketing Institute ("TFNMI"), and head of the Northeast division. There
she developed neighborhood and marketing strategies for fine, casual and quick
service concepts, designed to increase sales through a unified operations/marketing
system, loyalty and local store marketing, promotional activity and brand management.
Prior to TFNMI, Zaniker served on marketing teams developing and executing
diverse growth strategies for the media-based Arby's Restaurants and neighborhood-based
Bruegger's Bagels. She also served as marketing director for Corporate Healthcare
Financing, Inc., where she initiated and developed direct-response and relationship
marketing programs for the national sales team, and advised the company on strategic
marketing restructuring, including reestablishment of its corporate brand identity.
Zaniker has worked with public and private companies across the country,
including Lawry's Restaurants, Lettuce Entertain You, RARE Hospitality, California
Restaurant Association, Bennigan's, Shells Seafood, Rock Bottom Breweries/Old
Chicago, Miami Subs Grill and K-Bob's Corporation.
